Welcome to my practice! My name is Dafna Berman, and I am an experienced psychotherapist specializing in trauma. My passion lies in helping individuals navigate the complexities of their experiences and find pathways to healing and resilience. With a compassionate and holistic approach, I integrate various therapeutic modalities to create a tailored treatment plan for each client.
I am licensed as a clinical social worker in the State of Wisconsin. I received my MSW—Master of Social Work degree—in 2005 from the Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis. In 2020, I received my MBA degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, with a concentration in healthcare management.
Outside of clinical practice, I am passionate about making the world a better place for everyone. I have been involved in leadership positions within my professional association, NASW (National Association of Social Workers for quite some time. I am currently a director on the National Board in Washington, DC, representing social workers in Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin. In 2019, I served on the Mental Health expert panel, which revised and updated the Association’s Policy Statement, published by the NASW Press 12th edition of the “Social Work Speaks.”
Before serving on the National Board in DC, I was the president of the Wisconsin Chapter of NASW. I also taught seminars at the Annual Conferences about E-Social Work - Harnessing the Power of AI, Machine Learning, VR & AR for Social Good; Navigating Ethical Dilemmas for Social Work in the Era of Big Data & Machine Learning; Working with Clients who are Chronically Suicidal. In 2018, I was appointed by the DSPS Secretary (Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services) to the Behavioral Health Review Committee within the Division of Policy Development. Since 2022, I have been a Continuing Education and Conference Planning Committee member for the Healthy Climate Wisconsin initiative (formerly known as Wisconsin Health Professionals for Climate Action).
In my free time, I enjoy reading, hanging out with my adult children and furry grandchildren, working on various home improvement projects, playing the piano, and learning new languages.
